[Nobbc] Abnormally high oil pressure

Hi Greg, I don't have any knowledge of the Aceca (Bristol) in line 6, but I
assume that there must be an oil pressure relief valve in the oil system
somewhere. There's one in the MGB engine to prevent too high oil pressure.
Perhaps the one on the Aceca is blocked or clogged, that's the only thing I
can think of. You could try changing the oil with a low viscosity oil like
5/20 and see if that might clear it. Are there any AC bulletin boards out
there that can help you?

Subject: [Nobbc] Abnormally high oil pressure

Hello NOBBC members,

I was out for a short drive a couple of weeks ago and noticed that my oil
pressure was registering abnormally high (40 PSI at idle) so I cut my short
drive even shorter. Yesterday I started the car up and the oil pressure
gauge
quickly pegged at 100+ PSI (normally it registers around 80 PSI at a cold
start) so I shut it down. For what it is worth, the oil level is correct
and
the coolant is free of oil contamination.

Can any of the more mechanically minded members offer any suggestions as to
what might be going on?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Greg
