Ron,

Oh yeah, I forgot about the added seat belts... And I haven't given up on the
electronic ignition, it's just that the damn things come in at around $200 and
it was hard enough to do that once, let alone twice in succession. Probably
not for the New Year's Day Anti-Football drive, but hopefully by next
season...

Ha! Yes, I'm right with you, Norm. None of our cars are original. When I
first entered the Elan in the British car shown in Palo Alto, one of my
fellow Lotus owners, nose firmly extended up in the air, proclaimed my
car a hack job because it has a roll bar and does not have standard
seatbelts. Since my wife Trish won't ride in the car or drive it without
some sense that she will live through the experience, it's a no-brainer
to me. Nevertheless, seeing concours-quality cars is usually a treat.
Having said that, I actually prefer  looking at vintage race cars than
over-restored high-end collectibles.
Don't abandon the idea of electronic ignition - that's been the first
conversion for all of my cars, and has been a great improvement. I had a
VW squareback that required adjusting points at least every 3,000 miles
- what a pain!
