Yeah, you can see the VIN plate Barney shows is identical to the early MGB plate, with the same type of screw. Note that the screw heads are not painted body color, since they are affixed after the body is painted. They seem to have been black, although the originals are generally rusty.

There are rivets on the engine number plate, but that’s a different issue — those rivets can't be used in sheet metal.

There may be pop rivets on the body number tag, but there is no point in removing these tags, since they are painted with the body.
