[Mgs] MGB rack&pinion needed

The autopsy on the frozen steering rack revealed that one of the bushings 
had seized on the shaft--judging by the amount/type of rust, the rack had 
not seen lubrication for many years, though some previous owner had been at 
the rack, as the boots were fastened with zip ties and not clamps.

I confess that we never lubricated it, as access to the cover on the R&P is 
difficult, to say the least!  My mechanic was thinking of drilling a hole & 
welding a grease fitting on a used replacement rack, but that one also was 
sticking near one end, so a new rack and tie rod ends are on order.  That 
should last me the rest of my driving life with the car!

Try disconnecting the tie rod ends and re-assessing. The MG rack &
pinion is quite sturdy. While it is possible the R&P could seize, I
think it more likely one or both kingpins would seize - especially if
the rubber seals have perished and it has not been greased regularly.
