Yes, we know they bought what was left of the company, so they did come by the trademark legitimately. But you can’t tell me that this pickup truck has any actual content left over from the UK version of the company.

I think it is mainly an example of this cultural tendency of Asian corporations to adopt English-language trademarks and brand names for perceived prestige, even if their customer base cannot be expected to be aware of the original derivation. Really, how many Chinese truck customers know that the MG sports car even existed? No more than they know that the Dawes bicycle existed.
