[Mgs] [MG-MGB] Rough Running

Yes, the car stopped running suddenly while driving, and would not restart at that time. I don't recall how fresh the fuel was but am going to assume that it was mostly fresh as it wasearly in the season (Memorial Day weekend in May) and I woud have filled it up as soon as I started driving it.. As far as the pump pressure, it is a 2 - 3.5 PSI pump, and the same model
that I used successfully for the past 5 years.
Taking a few days off from the car as I'm having gall bladder removed tomorrow.

I guess my next step is to figure out why the car seems to be running rich. The carb should be in good shape as it was rebuilt in 2010 and I haven't tinkered with it since, other than checking it last year for a torn diaphragm after this issue. I do need to check the float chamber seal as that tends to leak after the car hasn't been run for a long time, so maybe I will remove the carb and check the shaft and bushings for leaks, as someone suggested. Probably won't post an update until sometime next week.
I appreciate all of the suggestions so far!

Fair point on the fuel, although he said the problem occurred suddenly last year, and the pump was replaced like-for-like.  Excess pressure would normally be shown up by fuel coming out of the overflow, and the pump clicking, with the ignition on and the engine stopped, i.e. another simple test. PaulH.

No, my point was to run the car with gas that is not in the fuel tank; ie, gas fresh from the gas station.
I do think that the point that was made about fuel pressure seemed to have validity.  I think it would be worth getting a Harbor Freight fuel pressure gage and testing it.
