[Mgs] clutch question

MGA must be different to MGB then. In that it's only the clutch cover springs (that grip the friction plate between pressure plate and flywheel and so give drive) that push the release arm back and the push-rod and piston into the slave cylinder as you release the pedal. Maybe someone has fitted a pull-off spring to the release arm to protect the release bearing, or maybe the MGA has one anyway.

If it has suddenly gone very light, and grinds in all gears, then the release bearing or something associated with it has broken, and the engine will have to be separated from the gearbox.

As I push the pedal in and out there is no resistance and the slave moves in and out freely. (I thought at first I lost hydraulics)

It grinds in every gear like the clutch hasn’t been pushed in.
