I was also getting gas fumes in the trunk.  This line that runs from the charcoal canister to the tank has a connection or two pieces to make the run to the tank. We unscrewed the back have section and blew compressed air and checked with two people - this section was clear but the from section to the canister was clogged up.  We sprayed a little carb cleaner in at both ends and blew more air going both directions.  A good amount of gunk came out both ends.  Use a rag at each end to catch the gunk when blowing the air.  Problem solved.  We also swapped out the original hoses in the trunk to the gas tank and canister  just to be sure.  It sure is nice now to have no gas fumes in trunk.
