[Mgs] OT - F1

Way too true, Barrie. Sadly, F1 is an entertainment business, a circus, not a sport.

Nose height is supposed to be a safety thing but everyone knows that the goal is to upset the aerodynamics and break Red Bull dominance.

Smaller engines and fuel restriction, I believe, have two goals;B

1. To 'appear' greener; yea right.

2. To further level the field, probably true.

Another stated argument put forth for the smaller engines was to better equate the drive train to road cars. That's just marketing BS, aimed at the uninformed critics.

Like the last race double points silliness, Formula One Management wants both championships to be decided on the last lap of the last race of the season. In short, to keep the audience at the circus until the end. Business.

We'll just have to see how competitive the cars are this year. One thing that they certainly are is...UGLY. Even the designers are calling them ugly. Perhaps that too must trickle down to road cars but I can't imagine today's jelly beans getting much uglier.

Best,

-rick

Rick & friends,

Why do they have to dictate the engine size or weight of car.B It has
long been proved that bigger engines do not make for the fastest
cars.B Lotus showed the USA that..B B B Refuelling
restrictionB YesB but amount No!B B Nose height hmmmm?B B One just has
to look at some of the rockets that appear on Top Gear - some of
those companies could possibly make F1 more exciting and produce
different looking cars.B Don't know about you but they all look the
same to me and all camouflaged with adverts so it is difficult to see
the shape - like war time jazz camouflage.
