[Mgs] HIF's

Morning Monte,

The test is to verify that the jet is aligned with the needle. The test is with engine OFF and the dampers removed from the carb tops.B

Use your finger to lift the air piston and let it fall back on to the venturi bridge. If there is no binding between the needle and the jet, the piston should land on the bridge with a little metallic 'clink'. That's all there is to it - unless the needle binds. If that happens, you'll need to recenter the jet. That process is well documented and not much of a hassle.

I'm hopefully putting the HIF's back in the car today.
Several of you mentioned that after lifting the pistons you should hear a
"clunk" when they drop. Is this when the car is off, idling, or both?
Thanks,
Monte 79B, desmogged with points
