  Shucks, it happens here in TX.  There's a lake spelled Buchanon maybe 
50 miles north of Kerrville, where I live.  It's pronounced Buck-cannon 
by the locals.  Go figure.....  Pretty country, makes a nice MGB ride & 
picnic.
