[Mgs] carb flooding

I'm on the road with my 71 B when I noticed that the car was surging, I pulled over and noticed that the HS4 overflow line was spurting gas out of it's line, I took the cover off the float bowls and noticed that the front carb's  float bowl was half full of gasoline and the rear carb's bowl was full of gas to the point of overflowing, I checked the needle's in the float bowl the seemed free, I checked the float they moved freely, I replaced everything and the car seems to be running fine again, any suggestions or comments?
