[Mg-t] TD top radiator hose replacement

What is the correct procedure for installing a new top radiator hose on a TD?
Is there anyway of doing it without removing the thermostat housing? (My new
reproduction hose is much too stiff to squish it on. I think I was able to do
this with an old hose.)
