The Duke engine looks like an adaptation of a WW II Stratopower hydraulic 
pump/motor.The overall layout looks the same.

With respect  to the Duke engine I hope they have a good handle on the 
methods
of sealing combustion gasses between cylinders or at least accommodating the
leakage.
