Visited with Chris Harris amid a gaggle of Kiwis and friends.

George Poteet is running/driving the Blowfish again this year. Single
turbo Dodge V8 in it now. Busy pit after the run. Troy and Jack
Trepanier seemed to have their act together. There's a good video I
bought for $20 showing the first years events in running the car. You
can buy it on their web site: http://www.radrides.com/home.php

His run in the Poteet-Main liner sounded good. Sure doesn't run/sound
like a 4 cylinder.

The "Camp Cameltoe" pits were busy

Mike Cooks' pit had it's own princess. Granddaughter Rachel, age 3,
had her own car and wading pool. Some visitors would have gladly
joined her in the pool.

Richard Thomason is pit crew this year while Ed Tradup drives. Both
the lakester and Bryan's lakester looked and sounded strong leaving
the line.

Some cars made two or more runs on Monday.

The pits appear crowded at the south end but by the time you reach the
Hammond's pits and the Ohio State liner pits on the far north west
corned you have LOTS of open salt. The pits must be a mile long.

Red Flame grille was busy but they have an expanded menu this year
with salads and specialty items to supplement the usual burgers,
chicken and steak sandwiches.

Mexican food at the Salt Flats Grille is reliably as good, plentiful
and tasty as ever.

Utah Highway Patrol and Tooele County Sheriff were parked along the
access road last night backing up the 45 mph speed limit.

Again, there's not much salt on spectator cars compared to previous
years. The BLM/Save the Salt/Intrepid fill in at the end of the
access road is great! You can get on and off the salt flats without
getting your tires wet.
