Mooneyes had a modified roadster on the salt, painted in tribute
colors and design to Fred Larsen and his 115 liner. MaryLou Larsen
came up to see it run and she was happy to be back on the salt. Sweet
lady!

Nish's lined made the fastest run of the day, 374 or so If I remember
correctly. It sounded healthy, no reported problems and I'm sure they
will just prime for the private FIA, FIM meet next month.

Doug Odom had a fire on his streamliner run, an oil line too close to
a header. They'll get that fixed.

The "spirit of rhett" liner, the former Nafzger car made a smooth take
off run. Check the results for the time

Glenn had problems with the CB radio for reporting times. Someone sat
on a mike, they switched channels but experienced other problems too.
They switched to another radio and that helped but the bugs are not
out of the system yet.

The third "special" course is around the dike from the othere two
courses and the only way you knew there were runs on it was from CB
time reports.

Overall, waits didn't appear to be as long as last year. There was
more policing of things as cars approached the starting line and less
at the other end of the access lines from what I saw. The starting
area is less than a mile from the end of the access road. The salt is
dry. There's not much on cars that stayed on the areas that have been
used but chase vehicles were still salted up. A spin took out the
lights and mile marker at the 2, blown engines left parts behind to
require course sweeps but they were accomplished in reasonable time
from what I say.

Salt Talks was well attended and a few folks really cleaned up at the
prize drawing. There's photos up at landracing.com of the event.

It seemed like there were at least triple the number of canpers at the
"Bend in the Road" on both sides of the road and folks were so tired
the 10:30 fireworks didn't even cause too much angst from comments I
overheard.

Sunday evening at the Nugget was wild. There must have been over 80
rods and 50's style custom cars there. Hundreds of spectators
enjoying the display. I heard the casino folks weren't too happy that
the action was outside, not inside.
