Many years ago I had a friend who said he used a mixture of banana peels and sawdust. I am not sure what the ratio was but you could Stat with a 50/50 mix. 🤣🤣🤣

I thought sawdust was the preferred additive.

The old trope was that Used Car lots would put sawdust in their cars' rears to quiet them down--but I'm not recommending it.

I'm no hexpert, but from what I've seen/heard whiny rear-ends are mostly caused by improper installation or bad break-in--there is a process--although my dad and I installed a Lempert in my BJ8 'by the book' and it's a bit noisy (it's only bothersome with the hood up, which isn't often). I've tried thicker, synthetic oil--Redline 75-140--which seemed to help a little but short of putting lard in I don't think there's a 'solution in a can.'
My dad, who was a factory rep for Ford, told me many/most early Mustangs had noisy diffs, and I can hear my '19 Mustang GT's on occasion. IIRC, DWM sells a 3.54, which may very well be what Moss sells.

Michael,
For what its worth, my '75 Moto Guzzi 850 shaft drive requires 15% Chrome Moly added to the gear oil of the crown and pinion rear drive. Factory spec.
Years ago, my 1 liter bottle of MolySlip was $ 46.00 CDN !!
Best,
Peter

After seeing the old British Pathè movie showing ring and pinion sets being "run in" in a fine grinding paste slurry I'm not surprised that people find the newly made sets a little noisy, as I have with the 3.66/1 in my BN1.
There are various "mechanic-in-a-can" products out there which are meant to quiet down noisy gears. Wondering if anyone has had success with these?

Has anyone had experience with this rather expensive set? I ask,
because I have an older set from Limpert that is very noisy and want to
replace it.
