Al,

I don’t think they are critical. My measurements are from the hole centre to the bend: 2” for the short arm and 2¼” for the longer arm.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark – are the dimensions of the bend lengths important when making the carburetor tool? I likely have carb removal in my immediate future!

Fred,

This is the tool I made under the watchful eye of Bill Bolton in his Corvallis workshop some 40 years ago.

I purchased an inexpensive Thorsen spanner and cut the gap with a chain wire saw.

The open end comes in handy on occasion for adjusting carb jet nuts.

And, some of you might be interested in this nifty tool Bill made for me for getting at those difficult nuts under the carburettors.

Can’t remember the size but someone will tell you.

I didn’t use a socket but chose to use a spare ring spanner. Of course, I cut the first one on the wrong side and it broke. Cut the next one on other side and it was fine.

Put a bit of CoppaSlip – or whatever you call it - on the threads when you replace it.

Simon

Listers,

I am trying to remove the temp sensor from the head. I cannot get a wrench on it.

I know several people have cut a groove in a socket and slipped it over the sensor. Anyone have an idea what size socket I should use and cut a slot in it? Any other ideas are also appreciated.

Thanks,

Fred,
