Two questions...who is making the new chassis plates and / or how to put the faded black back on an original?

Yes, Sarah, they all had a chassis plate, usually covered in gunk.  This one I sent is on the car at the Simone museum-full of undercoat. It should be located below the distributor on the RH chassis rail. Here is a photo of a new reproduction of what the plate looked like.
Also here is an engine plate on the block, and the later BN1-2 bulkhead plate after the chassis and engine became unified (same number for each).  Early 100s had a separate engine and chassis number in addition to a batch and body number (above) on the bulkhead (firewall). A plastic plate was located in the LH kick panel in the early cars.
Clarke Spares in Pennsylvania makes reproductions of these if you supply correct legal paperwork. British Specialists, Stockton, Ca. has the plastic plate for sale. Regards, Hank

Did all BN1s have this plate?  I have nomemory of seeing it on my BN1, and despite the grease/dirt I can’tsee it in this photo (just curious, even though I no longer own thecar).
