[Healeys] Top Bows

Well, it opens and closes easy enough.  It looks straight, but like every other part used on this car, it's not original to the car.  I don't think it is going to be a big problem.  Now the windscreen assembly with ALL unrelated parts may be another matter.  The distance between the windscreen and chrome uprights was set during the body work, but that is no guarantee there will be no problem fitting it.  Couple that with the fact this will be the first time I put a windscreen together for a big Healey.  When the time comes, there will be questions.  Heck, I have not found a part yet that did not need considerable work to make it fit.

good choice, I think.  Have you test installed the frame in your car yet?  Most frames I have come in contact with are bent in ways that don't cooperate with folding and unfolding or with alignment with the windshield posts.  They require a bit of 'reasoning'.  Sometimes a hammer and anvil, sometimes some homemade tools that look like crescent wrenches  with jaws wrapped in tape.  May you be luckier.-Roland

OK.  Dropped the top bows off to be soda blasted this morning. When I get them back going to spray paint one color. A spray can of Rustoleum Smoke Grey is less than 5 bucks on Amazon.Mike MacLean

I agree, plus I just checked my original and it is completely gray in color.

If I understand the question, the header rail is part of the structure of the top frame and is painted the same color as the rest of it.  I've seen several originals and they were all painted that way.  -Roland

Not that I know of, but I'm not certain.

Curt,     I just got finished drilling out 6 countersunk screws that retain the wood on the header rail. No way in H*ll they were going to come out with a screwdriver.  The wood was rather crispy.  I have a new piece of wood to replace it with.  I noticed the metal header rail was painted black on the opposite side of the wood.  Correct?Mike MacLean
