A little off the subject but I have a problem keeping the choke control from rotating on the wood dash on my BJ8. Anyone have a solution?

Saying friction is a little misleading. When one pulls the choke out it ratchets along a small half-moon dog. This dog is held in place by a spring ring surrounding this area. To release the choke it is necessary to rotate the knob about a quarter of a turn where this relieves the pressure on the dog and moves it to one side thus allowing the choke to be pushed in.
I have seen owners who do not rotate the knob and then try to force the knob it thus causing damage.

It’s pretty simple, you cut a slot in the sheath near the knob , install a half moon, and slip a spring steel cylinder over the half moon.

Alan,
My 100 project did not include a choke cable. I am searching for a replacement & want to make sure I understand what should be OE. For my education, how is the half moon assessed. Or to say it another way how is the half moon re-installed?

Gary -
Usually there's a little half moon in there which wears out, so if you just fabricate a new half moon, the friction lock will work again.
On my BN1 the choke just pulls out and stays there, so no need for friction lock.
Best,
Alan

Did the OE 100 choke cable feature the 1/4 turn friction lock like on the BJ8's for example?
If yes, do any of the suppliers sell a repro that includes a good quality lock with the correct knob or even better does anyone have a good used OE one for sale?
