[Healeys] Overdrive pump queries

To your question in 3.
No when you put a rod up through the hole in the center of the pump body
lower flange you will be pressing on the end of the piston which will move
up and down as the overdrive is rotated.
The spring merely holds the piston roller against the cam until pressure is
established.
If the piston does not move up and down with no influence from that "rod"
it is jamming in the body and this must be corrected.
