As you’re aware, the film was based on a book of the same name by Nevile Shute. I’ve always been a great admirer of this novelist. He was plainly a very talented aero-engineer as well as being a best-selling(?) novelist.

A slightly understated biography. Rather like the man.

“On The Beach” is a great book. Or try “A Town Like Alice”.
