[Healeys] Speedo Lubrication - was Throttle linkage lubrication

I have both the Speedo and Tach cable out of my car for a major restoration.
I took the inner cable out and cleaned well, oiled the cable and replaced it
and put the cables on a shelf for storage. When I went to move the cables
after several months the oil was on the shelf and not on the cable. I
suspect the recommendation for light grease is so the lubrication stays on
the inner cable.

Yeah - wheel bearing grease is what I was taught, but thought I'd ask...

The current iteration of "Smiths Instruments", Caerbont Automotive
Instruments, uses "ordinary wheel bearing grease".
