[Healeys] non-Healey puzzle

Just spoke with my mechanic – he’s determined that the solenoid tilts the whole reflector to dip the lights.  Another gem of British technology….

Does the solonoid  move the bulb?  If it does I suspect it changes how the light hits the reflector and thus gives you a dipped/main beam. 
The fact that the headlight on has 2 wires 
Supports this as well as it is fitted on the left (away from on coming traffic)
