[Healeys] non-Healey puzzle

Does it, or did it ever, have after-market bulbs which would have fried its tender wiring? Plainly, not modern ones……but something which, by the standards of the time, actually produced some illumination but at the cost of too many amps…..

If the two headlights are connected, which I’m pretty sure they must be, that might explain why there’s only one solenoid ie relay…..

I am NOT much of an electrician to be sure, but that’d be my first suspicion.

Subject: [Healeys] non-Healey puzzle

My mechanic (theoretically retired but who takes the occasional job that nobody else around here will touch) is working on a Jaguar SS-100. The RH (driver’s) side headlamp is “normal” – two wires. What on earth is this contraption on the LH headlamp? He’s never seen a headlamp with a solenoid and these other bits. ( I once had a late-‘30s MG-SA and I don’t remember the headlamps having anything like this!)
