Michael,
As I understand your question...
The first problem is that the fasteners on 100s (BN1/2) engines are
Whitworth (55° thread pitch angle) BSF (British Standard Fine). As such a
3/8" BSF fastener has 20 tpi.
A 3/8 X 24 tpi fastener is a standard UNF, ANF or SAE Fine thread,
basically a US Hardware store fastener, and is totally incompatible! These
not only have a different tpi, but they are a 60° thread pitch angle.
