[Healeys] Steering wheel repair

The steering wheels are some type of plastic molded over a steel hoop. In
the process of my Healeys' restoration, I kept my original cracked steering
wheel stored in a bag. When I removed it to assess how to restore it, the
outer hoop literally disintegrated and turned to dust in my hands. My
opinion is a cracked steering wheel, even if repaired, is dangerous because
the interior steel hoop can continue to corrode and fall apart at any time.

Subject: [Healeys] Steering wheel repair
While we are on the subject of repairing the Trafficator and Bakelite, for
forty years my steering wheel has been wrapped in a leather cover which
hides the cracked and missing pieces of the plastic looking material where
the round wheel meats the spokes. I seem to remember there is a process to
repair and/or fill in the voids. Does anyone on this list have a
suggestion?
