[Healeys] Door glass

Listers,

I am attempting to replace the shattered glass in the driver's side door on
my BJ8. The rubber strip that goes into the window channel has been placed
in the channel.

I cannot get the glass to slide into the rubber and channel. I wet both
the rubber and the glass with a mixture of water and dish soap but the
glass will not go into the rubber/channel. The glass rattles around in the
channel without the rubber so I know the channel is the right size. I
think the rubber is intended to provide a tight fit into the channel.
However, with the rubber in place and with soap and water, the glass simply
will not go in.

Any ideas on how to get this fitted properly? I am afraid to use a dead
blow hammer on the channel.

Thanks,

Fred
