During the resto of my BJ8 and BN7 I changed things up a bit on this.  Was tired of putting up with the rattle, noise, beating up of paint etc that these rubber pads allowed.  I found the trunk seal from a MGB in a junk yard.  Cut about one foot lengths and installed them in the four corners of the shroud.  Plenty of material if yu want to use longer lengths.  Angle of the strips from shroud to hood is good too.  Worked great!  No more shake and the hood had a firm seat on the pieces.

Subject: [Healeys] Healey BJ-8 hood

Hi everyone,
I should have my BJ-8 running this Spring. Engine compartment is freshly painted, my new wire harness is installed etc. After the weather warms up this Spring I plan to take my hood /bonnet to a friend with a small body shop and have him repaint the  underside of my hood. Question that I have is there are two rubber pads? between the rear support going side to side and the underside of the hood skin. Are they original and if they are, should the replacements be painted body color? If they belong what modern replacements are people using?                                     Thanks                                    Wayne_______________________________________________
