[Healeys] Generator?

Your ohmmeter will not tell you anything. Try the following:

Remove both connections from the generator.
Run engine at 1500 rpm.
Measure the voltage between D and chassis ground.
If you measure approx. 3-4 Volts the field coils are fine.
If you measure zero volts, first check the brushes. If brushes are Ok, your filed coils are most probably gone.
The armour is very seldom the cause for troubles, when the commutator is in good condition

Next step:
Connect a wire to battery + and tip the other end of the wire to the F connector on the generator while watching the voltage between D and ground. If voltage reads 14V and above then the generator is fine. Do not let the generator exceed 16V. This can damage it.

If you have installed a new Chinese regulator, the regulator is most probably the cause! I have installed four of those in various Healeys, none of them worked for long! The last unit burned out my BN2 generator. Either go for a NOS Lucas regulator or have solid state regulator installed.

Thank you for your note, Jim.
I will use my ohmmeter today to check the continuity of the field winding.

My BT7 generator seems dead. There's no output voltage at point D on the
generator at speed.

Got any voltage on the field winding? gotta have excitation to make the generator gen..If you do have voltage there, remove the wire and check for continuity to ground through the field winding..current flow is what makes it all work ..Maybe put a dc ammeter in the field winding circuit and see whats what
