On the general topic, I am told that the modern Lucas-lookalike (Indian) mechanical regulators are rubbish. Maybe made by County!

That's your decision but I just purchased 2 from dynamoconversions.com <http://dynamoconversions.com> and can report that they are very well engineered and were considerably less than what you are looking at.

My reason for going electronic is that I'm using an Li Fe battery:

http://www.netbug.net/blogmichael/2015/09/14/lucas-17l-tar-top-battery-solution/

which was quite expensive and is easily damaged/destroyed by over charging.

Despite many, many adjustments I have found that the mechanical regulators are just too inaccurate and the output voltage varies substantially with temperature.

The electronic regulators have an absolute maximum output of 14.2 VDC which happens to be exactly the maximum that the Li Fe batteries can handle.

I would just rebuild the genny. are you planning on running a 300 amp stereo system in your car or something?

Somewhat related to my prior post. Should I decide to rebuild the generator, anyone have experience with the electronic voltage regulator?

Cheaper to get your generator rebuilt. Re-install, then drive it. Not a big deal.

Hi, all. My generator failed and I'm considering my options. Anyone have any input on the AccuSpark Dynamator (which is an alternator in a dynamo case)? Peter Roses installed one recently, and suggested I consider it. The north American distributor is Brit Bits in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'd prefer retaining the traditional look of the generator over an alternator. Of course, rebuilding the generator is an option, but my car is not concours so that is not really a consideration. Certainly the higher output of the alternator (the Dynamator is 45 amps) is a significant improvement to drive all those electrical components on our Healeys.
