The BN1/2 heater core is a difficult one to repair because of its type of construction.  Not to say that it can't be done, but not easily. New cores are available from A H Spares for the equivalent of $US425 + shipping. Certainly way less than MM.

I don't have a BN2, so know little about their heaters.  But whatever core you put into it, you want to be sure it has been tested and will not give you problems for a long time.  If you have an 'old time' radiator shop you could have yours repaired and tested.  There are shops in different areas of the country that can do the work.  Two that I know of that are not close to you are one on Long Island who seem to have a large business in old car radiators and heater cores.  Here is a link to their new heater cores where they show some British ones for considerably less than what Moss charges. Where I live in York, PA there is a hold out old school radiator shop where the owner has low overhead and does great work for low prices.  It is called West York Radiator.  He can probably repair the one that you have for a couple of hundred $ or less.  He has a generic website: https://westyorkradiatorservice.com/radiator/
 
West York Radiator also specializes in repairing and coating of gas tanks which you can also find on his website.

I pulled the heater for my BN2 to see what I had to do to restore it.  Initial inspection shows it needs a rheostat switch and the three clips.  Not too bad until I tested the heater core, or should I say seive.  Running water in one of the water pipes produces no water out the other pipe.  It is running out of multiple holes throughout the matrix never to build enough pressure to make it out the other pipe.  Quite a disappointment.  Of course Moss wants 800 bucks for a new core.  Well, I just paid for my daughter's wedding so the bank account is a little light.  Anyone have a core they would like to sell? Mike MacLean
