[Healeys] source for 6 volt batterys

Henry,

Most of the 6 volts batteries just do not last, I agree with you there, at least the way they are used here in my part of Canada, they sit for 4-5 months. Yes I kept trickle charges on it and charged them before using them but the most I could get out of them was 2 years and then one would crack, or simply would not keep a charge. This was on my BN6.

My suggestion is to use one small 12 volt battery, mine seem to last about 5 years and my car is nowhere near Concours so I do not car about it but if that is what you are looking for, change the batteries when you go for judging, a hassle perhaps but it will take less time to change the batteries than to clean it for Concours.

Jean

It works as Healeys use 12 volt systems. It is a great idea if only the concours judges would approve. The tar tops I bought 9 months ago are starting to crack and leak. A real problem if you are concerned about originality.

Sorry George, that will not work, you will end up with a 12 volt battery with even higher amperage capability and will damage everything in the car’s 6 volt system.

Just get two 12V gel batteries and hook them up in "parallel".

They don't leak and hold a charge for a long time.

Try Optima or Odyssey brands.
