[Healeys] Irrelevant question re:- RE: John Thompson Motor Pressings

Hello

Another of my favourite subjects – pre-jet age aircraft.

Yes the Defiant was sadly flawed and completely overshadowed by other aircraft of the day. However I think by the time Boulton & Paul was making the panels for Austin-Healeys the aero section had been sold off to form Boulton Paul Aircraft which eventually and rather convolutedly became part of GE Aviation Systems.

Is that any relation to the Boulton-Paul who made the “Defiant”? Supposedly a fighter, it just about survived combat in the 1940 Battle for France and then lasted about 30 minutes in the Battle of Britain before being withdrawn. It was virtually useless, read suicidal, against contemporary aircraft. One thing….they stripped the turrets out and mounted one on either side of various light/coastal boats where they were lethal at close range.

I'm sure that you are also aware of Boulton-Paul who pressed the body panels on Shawe Presses. Would love to read the results of your research on them some day ... I'm sure it would be a very interesting story.

Thank you

I need the press advertisement of the 1950s for an article I want to write about the original makers of the Austin-Healey chassis and not who is making chassis today.

Thanks

Hello

I am looking for copies of press ads from John Thompson Motor Pressings that indicate they were the suppliers of the Austin-Healey chassis.

It’s a common misconceptions that Jensen Motors built Austin-Healey chassis, but they were not.

Would anyone have a press ad they could send me please?

Thanks
