[Healeys] Overheating query

Good point Ira.
The studs can be an issue especially of the housing hasn’t been removed in some time.
I have sleeved the studs with a short length of shrink wrap tubing to provide an insulator between the steel and alloy. Electrolytic corrosion doncha know! That’s the problem.
Cheers.

Always glad go help. Another test is to remove the rad cap start the car and wait go see if the water begins to circulate in the radiator when it gets up to running temp. If the water just sits calm its not making it past the stat. Anyway be careful to use penetrating oil on the nuts so you don't break the studs on the stat Housing.
