[Healeys] Overheating query

I would start checking the operation of the thermostat in a pan of water 
with a proper lab thermometer. Slowly heat up the water and check the 
opening temperature of the thermostat.
If OK remove the water pump and check the vanes, although when the vanes 
disappear the problem should arise gradually, not sudden.
