[Healeys] Gas strut boot lid support

We have installed several of these in many Healeys. The best part is when
you open the trunk and have something in your hand you do not have to worry
about the prop rod being loose and swinging around and hitting the fender.
I have a 185 70 15 size spare tire and it works fine, but only if you move
the spare tire blocks to move the tire all the way in. But that usually is
the case with or without the shock because the tire hits the trunk lid.

Al,
At the time the photos were taken I had Michelin 175 ZX 15s installed. I
had to move both buffer blocks in the boot and I could not fold the original
support rod. Steve Thomton’s gas strut worked for the 175’s without any
conflict. I now have Michelin XAS 180HR15 tires on the car, but I went with
a smaller spare.
