Thanks for all your input.
I decided to take the offer of my German supplier who had a 
set of restored carbs in exchange for my 50 year old ones.
He is working with a renowned SU expert who is well known 
for his good work.
So I didn`t have to wait some months for a restoration and 
can enjoy the summertime with a set of carbs "better than new"
