Speaking of starters, I have s just sitting around doing nothing--if anyone needs one--one works perfectly--one need fixed.

every few years i would remove my generator and starter, clean them up, replace brushes, bearings, smooth the commuter, 
etc.  generator lasted 49 years and starter 50 years.  never had a start problem as long as chokes were set right.
