Hi All,
Great chart Scott! Thanks for sharing.
I just wanted to clarify – BMC C series blocks were used in many BMC vehicles – not just Austin Healeys. And some of these Austin sedans were more common in Australia, England & New Zealand, than say the US.

The same identical 2,639 cc, 77x89 mm, engine blocks were used in:
- 1954-1959 Wolseley 6/90
- 1954-1959 Austin Westminster A90/A95/A105
- 1955 -1959 Morris Isis
- 1958-1959 Riley Two-Point-Six
- 1956-1959 Austin-Healey 100-6

Over 86,000 cars using these 2639cc blocks were manufactured, and Austin Healey 100-6 cars accounted for about 10% of them.

The 2,912 cc 83.36x88.9 mm, four bearing crankshaft engine was used in:
- 1959 - 1968 Austin Westminster A99/A110
- 1959 - 1968 Wolseley 6/99 and 6/110
- 1959 - 1964 Vanden Plas Princess 3-Litre
- 1959 - 1967 Austin-Healey 3000

Over 133,000 cars using these 2912 cc blocks were manufactured, and Austin Healey 3000’s accounted for about 1/3 of them. Early are AEC 881 (low dipstick) and later are 12 B 766 (high dipstick).

So you will also find e.g. 12 B 766 (High Dipstick) blocks in the engine bays of e.g. Wolseley 6-110 Mk2
Here's a Wolseley 6-100 Mk 2 block - same number as Healey BJ8

The "right" block number means it is the right block type for the car – but it doesn’t necessarily mean it was originally built as an Austin Healey engine per se. Sedans often had a different cam, rear engine plate (starter on the wrong side), vertical rather than horizontal oil filter etc.
Nothing wrong with sedan blocks.
Best
Chris
