[Healeys] door latch

Like some others recently, I've been having enough trouble with my driver's door latch that I've decided to replace it.The passenger door is fine and I can see where it's not as worn.However, I seem to remember that when I put it all together, the bit that goes forward to the inside handle was welded, or connected to the latch in a manner other than a fastener...whereas the part offered by the suppliers is just the door mounted latch.Anyone (before I get this apart and order my parts) remember how these parts are connected?
