Or maybe someone you know has any old car of the period that you can measure the cutout on that. Maybe it should be a British or European car, but generally the cutouts would be sized for the radios available back then. 

Or go to an automotive flea market, like Fall Hershey or Carlisle in a couple of weeks and measure old radios or cutouts in the cars in the flea market spaces. 

Actually, your XJ6 probably has the right size cutout. It is probably old enough. Or go to a junk yard and buy a dashboard from an old car or the part of one with the radio cutout, then just weld it into your Healey.

The original cutouts were done to fit whatever radio your dealer would install, typically a Motorola or a BMC unit. 

So you need to have the original radio in hand, and then cutout to accommodate that radio.

I am restoring my BJ8 center console. The radio location was cutout to accommodate a modern DIN style radio. I plan to fabricate and weld in a sheet metal repair plate to restore the metal to original. But I don't know the dimensions and locations of the openings and other holes. Would anyone happen to have made any kind of template or sketch of an original? Or maybe even a photo of a console frame without the vinyl.
