Does anyone know for sure, as in dyno test results, if the standard filters are that bad...I would have thought that BMC would have tested them pretty carefully.....they wanted 150 HP and replacing the filters would have been"cheap" horsepower.

K & N does not make a filter for the 2” HD8 carbs.  They do make a filter that has a blank plate that can be made to fit your carb. So then you could make an off set mounting plate.

Hello list,
 
I am considering to replace the std. airfilters by K&N airfiters. Would like to know the experience of the forum on this.
I drive a 1964 A-H  3000 BJ8 phase 2 with HD8 carbs. It was told to me that the std . K&N would not fit because insuffient  space under the bonnet.
I was advised to look for conic ones. Is this correct?  Checked the internet ,but cannot find them.
Would appreciate any comment in this matter.
