No. It was originally Carmine Red, as was #663, and we both have the black  
engine bay. We also have very unique bonnets, in that there is no cross 
bracing  towards the rear of the bonnet.

In looking for more detail, the Anderson Moment book says that a small  few 
White colored BN1s were painted black over the white body paint and that  
it was "definitely not general practice".


Was your car originally white?

I'm the fourth owner and have all receipts on all that has been done to  
the car since new. So I'm pretty sure that's the way it came and I have gone  
over BN1 #663 and it is the same. (Both cars were in the Southern California 
 Club). My engine bay is black, not body color, same as #663, so maybe that 
 made a difference?

IIRC, that plate and screws should be painted body color. Your  picture 
should likely have been all red.
