<DIV>No. It was originally Carmine Red, as was #663, and we both have the black
engine bay. We also have very unique bonnets, in that there is no cross bracing
towards the rear of the bonnet.</DIV>

<DIV>Interesting bit of a difference. I'd never heard of any Healeys having
other than body color for the whole chassis and body.</DIV>

<DIV>In looking for more detail, the Anderson Moment book says that a small
few White colored BN1s were painted black over the white body paint and that
it was "definitely not general practice".</DIV>

<DIV>I'm the fourth owner and have all receipts on all that has been done to
the car since new. So I'm pretty sure that's the way it came and I have gone
over BN1 #663 and it is the same. (Both cars were in the Southern California
Club). My engine bay is black, not body color, same as #663, so maybe that
made a difference?</DIV>

<DIV>IIRC, that plate and screws should be painted body color. Your
picture should likely have been all red.</DIV>
