[Healeys] Grease Nipple Coil Springs

G'day John

That makes sense, because the grease nipple is right-angle shaped so there
must be a small internal ball bearing (or valve) that can't be seen through
the entry at the tip unlike the AH ones where the ball (or valve) can be
seen.

Thanks.

Hi Patrick
I believe that would be to provide tension to the small ball in the outer
end of the nipple to make it act like a one-way valve to keep the grease
inside.

G'day

Perhaps someone out there will tell me the purpose of this?

This afternoon I have been cleaning the steering tie-rods and ball-joint
ends of the new Healey. When I unscrewed the grease nipples I noticed that
each has a small coil spring inside the part of the nipple that screws into
the back of the ball-joints.

Has anyone seen this before and tell the purpose of them? Now before you go
rushing out to examine yours, this is for a real Healey and not an
Austin-Healey.

Hoo Roo
