[Healeys] fuel pump filter

The factory didn't see the need to install a fuel filter other than the sock
on the pick up tube inside the fuel tank and the brass strainers in the carb
fuel intakes. My BJ8 came to me with an aftermarket filter installed in the
braided fuel line to the carbs. Doing this had caused the braid to fray and
become dangerous to hands working in the area. I later replaced the braided
line and to avoid cutting it I installed my filter under the rear seat
between the pump and the carbs. This required cutting into the hard fuel
line, but it did make installing a back-up fuel pump easier a few years
later. My back-up pump came with its own filter in the intake (which is the
output from the SU).

John, to install a fuel filter before your pump will require cutting into
the hard line from the tank to the pump.

Subject: [Healeys] fuel pump filter

Should a fuel filter be installed before the fuel pump of after; It would
seem that installing before the pump would help protect the pump as well as
the rest of the system. I would appreciate some thoughts on the subject as
my 1966 BJ8 has no filter installed at this time. Thanks for any advice!!
