The secret to the longevity of original aluminum cylinders is in the anodized
finish of the bores...again check the archives...
Once an aluminum cylinder is honed it is useless and will wear very rapidly
unless it is sleeved.

Chris,
That sounds like one man's opinion, not a fact. Surely you are not suggesting
that, in general ,an aluminum cylinder can not ever be of sufficient quality
for the application, are you?
I think Tilton would disagree.
There were thousands of original aluminum cylinders that provided decades of
reliable service. Some are still in service & performing well.

Close Gary....
The aluminum bores should be over bored, and fitted with a stainless steel
sleeve.
Imagine my face - after I chased down and bought all NOS brake/ clutch master
and slave cylinders - and my brake rebuilder guy said...
"No probs, we will bore them all out, fit a stainless steel sleeve, to
standard
spec, and Bobs your uncle"
My reply...
"Can't you just check and rekit these beautiful, perfect, new old stock,
cylinders??"
Answer. No mate. They'll leak like a sieve. That's shit metal. No way!!
No value in aluminum NOS brake cylinders. Unless you get them sleeved in
stainless.
Upside??
That was 15 years ago. Quick clean
All good. Perfect.
Best
