I know this thread is for a BJ8 however, I had an alignment issue 
between my original pulley damper and a rebuilt water pump.

I solved it moving the water pump pulley. The pulley can be moved in 
and out to better align with the damper. You have to be very careful 
to not break the water pump pulley.
